ABOUT ME
Janelle is a researcher, science communicator, and person living with T1D.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 13. With no family history of T1D, I was curious about the biology behind my diagnosis and decided to pursue a scientific career. I earned my PhD in Physiology and Pharmacology from Oregon Health & Science University in 2024, and am currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco. Outside of academia, I am passionate about making scientific literature accessible to all by breaking down published research into digestible content. My career goal is to use my background as an academic scientist and experience as a patient for diabetes education and scientific engagement.
